Bruce was raised on the family farm and ranch in Cozad, Nebraska, graduated from Cozad High School in 1970, the University of Nebraska in 1974 with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Business Administration, and the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1980. He has practiced law in Cozad since then. Bruce practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and probate, corporate and business planning, agriculture law and real estate. Bruce is currently a member of the Nebraska State Bar Commission and is a board member of several local charitable organizations.

Bruce is married to Mj Hart who is a retired registered nurse. Bruce and MJ have two children and two grandchildren. In his spare time Bruce enjoys hunting, gardening and spending time with his family.
